Skoda’s decision to produce a 5-door version was recently confirmed by the company’s head of sales and marketing, Jürgen Stackmann, according to the UK’s Autocar.
The 5-door Rapid will naturally be shorter than the sedan, the length of which is close to 4.5 m, while it will also fall short in the volume of the luggage compartment.
But it is expected to give Skoda a significant share in the popular mid-sized hatch segment, dominated by models such as the Golf, Astra and Focus.
