The first 9-speed gearbox in a Land Rover

In collaboration with transmission system manufacturer ZF, Land Rover will present the first 9-speed automatic transmission in a passenger car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
The ZF 9HP was designed to be combined with transversely mounted engines and with a focus on reducing consumption and emissions.

The new ZF gearbox also promises improved engine response during acceleration, better gear changes, while the long final ratio keeps the engine operating revs low and thus limits noise at high speeds. At the same time, the first ratio is even shorter to increase the possibilities of off-road movement and towing a boat. It even has a memory function. When e.g. the driver selects downshift when the car is moving at a very high speed, the transmission system will perform the gear change when the speed drops to the correct level. Within the next few years we will see it equipping both Land Rover and Range Rover
