The Ministry of Interior elaborates three scenarios in order to reward the productive public servants and in fact a relevant fund has been committed.
The incentives for over-productive civil servants have to do with cash bonuses as well as more days off during the year.
This is a plan that is expected to be legislated by the end of the year and to start as a pilot in early 2022, as reported by ANT1.
The money for the financing of the measure has already been committed, with actions of the Ministry of Interior, from the Recovery Fund
The Minister of Interior, Makis Voridis stated that “it is important to be able to reward competent, worthy and highly productive civil servants. This is a tool of management, but also a tool of achieving the goals “.
Which scenarios are being considered
According to the information, the Ministry of Interior is considering three scenarios, for the reward of over-productive employees:
extraordinary monetary remuneration to the employee in the form of a bonus,
faster wage development,
a combination of faster payroll development and additional days of annual leave.
The bonus will be given by the respective service and not by the Ministry of Interior.
Makis Voridis states to ANT1 that the program “is part of the actions to overthrow the egalitarianism that has stuck the public administration for years. I believe that it will be a strong incentive to increase the productivity of employees in the State and in the end all this is for the benefit of the citizens “.
The next steps will be the development of an electronic platform for the implementation and monitoring of the process, which will be connected to the targeting and evaluation systems, but also the implementation of research to the citizens, in order to determine whether the provision of services has improved.
