We have to give credit to Opel for constantly renewing not only its fleet but also the mechanical parts. The General Motors subsidiary is launching yet another new engine, this time a diesel, with production starting in the spring.
This is the 1.6 CDTi ECOTEC, which replaces the 1.7 as well as the 2-liter in the 130 PS version.
Despite the smaller capacity, it offers 6 PS more power, reaching 136 PS (maximum torque… climbs from 30.6 to 32.6 kgm).
The downsizing method offers reduced consumption, up to 10% compared to the 2 liter diesel. Opel promises better response and more civilized operation, with reduced noise and vibration.
