THE Nikos Sarganis left an era in Greek football. One of the teams that were lucky to have him on their roster was Kastoria.
We remind you that Nikos Sarganis went to Kastoria in 1977, making his debut with the team in the First National League on September 11 of that year.
He made outstanding appearances in the team’s amazing run to the Greek Cup in 1979-80, which they won by beating Heraklis 5-2 (the first team outside of Athens and Thessaloniki to do so).
A few hours after the death of Nikos Sarganis at the age of 70, the Macedonian team posted on Facebook, emphasizing among other things that people leave but legends like “Phantom” remain in our memories and hearts.
“It is with great sadness and pain that we learned of the great loss of the “phantom” of our hearts, Nikos Sarganis. A man we experienced, enjoyed, at the beginning of his career and is an integral part of our memory, for his presence in KASTORIA, culminating in the winning of the cup by our team, in 1980.
Although words are really poor, to express our feelings of sadness and grief, for the great loss of Nikos, the Football Family of Kastoria expresses its sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased.
“Phantom” flew forever into the skies. People leave, legends, but like Nikos Sarganis, remain close to us, in our memories and in our hearts.
Have a good trip and Good Paradise, even if the soil that will cover you is light.
Niko, you will be unforgettable to us
A T H A N A T O S!!!”, Kastoria said in her post.
