As of Monday, August 11, 2025, the new arrangement for bank supplies in withdrawals entered into force cash from ATMas provided for in the amendment of Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis in the bill on the National Code.
This change, which is expected to be a significant incision in the banking system, aims to reduce the cost of supplies for citizens and to enhance transparency and equal access to cash, especially in areas with limited ATM options.
In detail, the 4 changes that will apply from Monday are:
- According to the new regime, all cash withdrawals from the Greek Banks ATM network will be carried out for no charge, as long as the card has been issued by a DIAS member bank. This means that customers will be able to withdraw from any bank ATM, regardless of ownership, without paying commission.
- In municipal communities where there is only one ATM, whether it belongs to a bank or an independent provider, withdrawals will be free. This provision aims to protect residents of remote or inaccessible areas from excessive charges.
- For the rest of the cases, when withdrawal of third -party providers, such as Euronet or Cashflex, without corporate cooperation with the issuer of the card, a 1.5 euro billing ceiling per transaction is established. In this way, it ends with the high supplies of 2.5 or 3 euros that many users have paid to date, especially in tourist destinations.
- Finally, the new arrangement enables free balance control of all ATMs, and obliges all providers to align their charges for remittances with those of the banks, eliminating the “hidden” or excessive supplies.
It should be noted that with the new arrangement, the benefits for consumers will be many as they will get rid of the burdens of banking supplies, especially for those who live or visit remote points.
