A unique opportunity will have students, researchers, developers and entrepreneurs to participate in the 9th Cassini Hackathon, which will take place in Janina On May 16-18 at the “Dimitris Hatzis” Cultural Center. This is a European Commission Pan -European Initiative, which is looking for innovative solutions with a social impact, utilizing space technologies and data. In this year’s theme “Space for Healthcare”, Hackathon invites participants to utilize tools such as satellite data, artificial intelligence and geospatial technology, to design applications that can transform the health care sector. This year’s event is being held in Greece by Envolve Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystems.
Το Envolve Entrepreneurship (https://envolveglobal.org) chose the Janina to the site to host the 9th Cassini Hackathon in Greece, both because the city is pioneering new solutions in the health sector and for its extensive presence in research and development through the University of Ioannina.
The 9th Cassini Hackathon will be one of the parallel events of Zagori Impact Investing Forum (https://zagoriforum.com) under the auspices of the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Region of Epirus, the Municipality of Zagori and the Municipality of Ioannina, offering the opportunity to the participating teams to network with leaders from the field of innovation. As part of the European Commission’s “Cassini Hackathons & Mentoring” initiative, this Hackathon Innovation will take place at the same time in 10 different cities in the European Union, inviting participants utilize satellite data from Copernicus, Galileo and Egnos systems for the development of innovative health solutions. As announced, the participation does not require prior experience in space technology, as the program is looking for people with a passion for resolving significant health challenges.

The groups that participate in Hackathon will develop innovative solutions that will help to address challenges in the field of healthcare, focusing on one of the following fields:
• Monitoring of the spread of diseases and health risks: Using satellite data to monitor environmental factors affecting public health.
• Smart Emergency Health Care: Improvement of Medical Logistics, Telemedicine and Emergency Response with Space Based Technologies.
• Mental health & well -being: Developing solutions for the evaluation and improvement of mental well -being through environmental monitoring.
The winners of the European final will receive a total of 9,000 euros in cash awards, access to exclusive EU space data. And in cutting -edge tools and collaboration with leading industry experts and personalized guidance, as well as over 100 hours of mentoring after Hackathon.
