“Implied” Agreement on US Defense Equipment of EUR 500 billion from EU member states has been allegedly existing between USA – Commission On the sidelines of the Trump – von der Liean meeting in Scotland on July 27, 2025, according to newsit.gr information by analysts with good knowledge of the consultations between the two sides of the Atlantic.
It is recalled that until yesterday there was officially dominating a hallmark between the US – Commission regarding whether there was an agreement with each other on the purchase of US defense systems by Europeans.
On the one hand, in a statement, the White House on July 28, 2025, explicitly states that “the European Union has agreed to buy significant quantities of US military equipment”.
On the other hand, in the newsletter issued by the Commission on July 29, 2025, he makes no mention of any such “agreement”, while sources from Brussels are talking about “expectations” Trump (and in no way “agreement”).
However, Newsit.gr sources report that the corridors of the Commission circulate a number, and this is 500 billion euros (ie 62% of the total Rearm EU/ SAFE package) and concerns the purchase of US equipment in the next 3.5 years, ie in the midst of the mid -term year.
The € 500 billion, according to the same sources, will not be paid during that time, but they will relate to orders, the full execution of which will take more than 2029.
In addition, the new NATO goal, namely 5% of GDP on behalf of defense spending, has a horizon in 2035, the same sources said.
With these “data”, the total volume of markets that the EU pledged to proceed by the Americans is 1.2 trillion. Euro: 700 billion euros is for the US energy market (which is provided in official US and EU announcements) and an additional € 500 billion for the purchase of US weapons (which is not provided in any official announcement so far).
Thus, if these markets estimates are verified, taking into account the announcements of additional European investment in the US of € 600 billion, as well as the expected revenue of 15% in European imports, the total package of the agreement (publicized and “silent”) in the astronomical amount of 1.9. euro.
