In general, a few or many days after stinging from the tick, 60% to 90% of patients develop a characteristic skin rash. It is called migratory erythema and It is a reddish rash that is gradually spreading, peripherally from the point of sting.
This rash can occur from 2 to 90 days after stinging. Most patients present it in 2-30 days (average: 7 days).
The rash caused by lyme disease can reach 30 cm in diameter. It usually takes several weeks to retreat.
Other symptoms
Some patients may also have non-influenza symptoms, such as:
Fever
Chills
Headache
Fatigue
Pain in joints and muscles (arthralgia, myalgia)
Swollen lymph nodes
However, these symptoms can also occur without skin rash. There is also a chance that an unusual skin event in the ear lobe, breast nipple or scrotum occur. This is called good -natured skin “Borrelia lymphocytosis”. This “lymphocytoma” can remain for a few months if the patient does not treat.
Lyme disease can also cause late manifestations. These occur days to months after sting, when the infection spreads. Such events are observed:
In the nervous system (10% of incidents)
In the joints
In the heart (rarely)
Lyme disease is treated with antibiotic treatment. Late manifestations can also be observed when the patient is treated but began late.
