According to the newspaper, the Republican has told his advisers that duties are a profit for the US because they restore jobs to the construction sector and add trillions to public revenue.
Yesterday (28.3.2025), Trump said open to agreements with countries seeking to avoid US duties, but noted that negotiations on these agreements should be made after the reciprocal duties are announced on April 2.
