A new range of diesel engines will be launched by Volvo in the autumn, with an innovative function for even lower consumption.
This particular technology – and not only – will be another trump card in the battle that the Swedes have with premium model manufacturers, mainly from Germany.
The new technology of the 4-cylinder engines is called VEA (Volvo Engine Architecture) and carries the i-ART technology. More specifically, through microcomputers, the injection pressure is controlled at all times and the amount of fuel injected into each combustion chamber is adjusted accordingly.
The Swedish automaker is expected to take full advantage of the new technology it developed, equipping almost all models in its range with diesel engines.
According to Volvo, all engines in the VEA family will be manufactured at Volvo’s engine plant in Skævde, Sweden, approximately 80 km away. Northeast of Gothenburg.
