Great tension was created at noon on Thursday (20/11/25) at DOU Voloswhen a 43-year-old man with financial debts went so far as to threaten to end his life by falling from the first floor of the building. He claims that he was in the accident at Tempe.
According to thenewspaper, the man in Volos claimed to have been a passenger in the fatal train in Tempi and for the past three months has been plagued by red tape, trying to complete the process of writing off his debts, as promised by the government for the survivors of the accident.
According to eyewitnesses, the 43-year-old had been wandering around the offices on the 5th and 1st floors since the morning, looking for a solution.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., clearly charged, he went out onto the first-floor balcony, put his foot on the railings, and began shouting that “he can’t take it anymore” and that “only this way will the suffering end.” Employees and citizens who were in the building panicked and immediately notified the authorities.
Police patrol cars and an EKAV ambulance arrived at the scene, while police officers began negotiating with him, trying to calm him down and remove him from the scene. The standoff lasted about an hour, with the area cordoned off for security reasons.
Eventually, the 43-year-old was persuaded to come down from the balcony and was picked up by police officers, who took him away in a patrol car for further assessment and support.
