Volkswagen (VW), Renault and Stellantis are included in companies affected by more than one package fines EUR 458 million imposed by the European Union (Eu) In the automakers to participate in an illegal cartel for vehicle recycling.
EU survey revealed that, for over 15 years, 16 major automakers in total, as well as the European Union of Car Manufacturers forged agreements. Of the companies affected by the fines, VW was hit by a fine of 128m euros, Stelandis faced a fine of almost 75m euros, while Renault was required to pay € 81m.
The automakers agreed “not to compete with each other in advertising for the extent to which their cars can be recycled, and agreeing to be silent on the recycled materials used in their new cars,” the head of the EU Antitropolis Committee said in a statement.
