As part of its presence at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Sevi Voloudakivisits to the Reception and Identification Center, to the controlled structure of temporary accommodation of asylum Vagiohori applicants and at the “PIXIDA” Day Center in Thessaloniki.
During her visit to the Diava CT, she was informed in detail about the recording and identification procedures, and talked to the Governor and with the Center employees.
He then visited the Controlled Temporary Hosting Structure of Asylum Varochori, where he met with Mayor Volvis Mr. Liana, the Commander and the Structure staff, and was informed of the daily operations and activities of the people and in particular.
He also visited the “Compass” Day Center, where support services offered to unaccompanied minors and young adults were presented.
Ms Voloudakis referred to the Ministry’s recent initiatives, such as the New JMD to determine ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding to prevent and address gender and domestic violence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Cohesion.
He also referred to the objectives of the new law, which, among other things, is the immediate briefing to those who seek asylum that, if their application is rejected, they will face a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years. This is mainly concerned with those who do not meet the criteria for recognition of refugee profiles and aims to accelerate the voluntary return procedures.
Following the completion of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum said: “Protection and care for unaccompanied minors is a matter of responsibility and humanity for the state. We have ensured that children have access to support and opportunities for integration and development. At the same time, controlled structures provide care and support to adult asylum seekers. The ministry will continue to reinforce any action that contributes to protection with responsibility and consistency. “
