France received 352,295 visa applications from Algerian nationals in 2024. Out of this total, 118,697 or 33.69 per cent of the applications were rejected.
According to statistics published by SchengenVisaInfoFrance’s rejection of such a number of applications resulted in over €10 million spent by Algerians in 2024, Schengen.News reports.
Considering that the fee for a Schengen visa hiked from €80 to €90 in June 2024we have taken an average of €85 per application as an amount that most accurately reflects the typical cost of a visa.
Algerians Spent Nearly €30 Million on Applications for French Visas
Algerians filed 544,634 applications for French visas, resulting in €29.9 million spent in 2024. Out of these, 228,267 or 64.8 per cent were approved, costing about €19.4 million in expenses.
On the other hand, France received over three million visa applications and banked €261.1 million in visa fees from visa applicants in 2024.
Algerians filed 11.4 per cent of the visa applications that France received last year, representing a fraction of the resources that France cashed from visa applications in 2024.
In general, Algerians spent over €46.2 million on 544,634 visa applications they filed for the year. About €28.9 million was spent on approved visas (340,780 or 63 per cent of all applications) and €15.7 million (185,101 applications, representing 34 per cent of all visa requests).
France received around 65 per cent of Algeria’s visa applications, thus, cashed nearly two-thirds of the money that Algerians spent on visa applications.

After France, Spain was the second country that received the highest number of visa applications in 2024.
In total, Spain received 123,991 visa applications from Algerians, representing 23 per cent of the visa applications that this nationality group filed. This resulted in Algerians spending €10.5 million on visa applications – 75,046 (€6.3 million) for approved visas and 36,583 (€3.1 million) for rejected applications.
Italy is third, receiving 25,418 visa applications – 4.67 per cent of all visa applications that Algerians filed in 2024. That accounts for €2.1 million in visa applications – €1.3 million of which were for approved visas (15,892) and €3.1 million (36,583) for rejected visas.
