A very high risk of fire (Risk Category 4) is foreseen tomorrow in Attica as well as in areas of the Regions of Central Greece, Crete, North and South Aegean according to the Fire Risk Provision Charter issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Civilizationcivilprotection.gov.gr).
Specifically a very high risk of fire is foreseen tomorrow for the following areas:
- Region of Central Greece (Evia IP)
- Attica
- Crete Region (Lasithi IP)
- Northern Aegean Region (Lesvos, IP Chios, PE Samos, PE Ikaria)
- South Aegean Region (Rhodes, IP Karpathos)
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has informed the competent officials involved state agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness in order to address any fires immediately.
At the same time, the GAPP recommends that citizens are very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, the use of sparks, such as rifle, cigarettes etc.
Consequently, as the Fire Brigade has announced, the 2nd Stage of Operational Readiness is implemented and air -surveillance patrols will be carried out, as well as patrols by fire brigades, police and military forces.
In addition, the fire department staff of the above regional units are partially alert to tackle the increased service requirements, which may occur due to very high risk of fire (Risk Category 4).
At the same time, for these areas, the Civil Protection Actions Plan to address risks due to forest fires is implemented, according to which, inter alia, the implementation of the preventive prohibition of vehicle traffic and the stay of excursions in national parks, forests and “fraud”.
At the same time the Fire Brigade appeals to citizens:
1. To be very careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire from negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks such as saws, welding devices, use of outdoor bourgeoisie. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
2. Monitor the information on the prevention of forest fires available on the website and on the official Fire Brigade accounts, Facebook and X.
3. In the event of a fire, they are kindly requested to notify the fire service immediately in the 199 call number 199.
Finally, the Fire Brigade calls on all citizens to be very careful and, in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to adhere strictly to the instructions of the competent authorities.
