7 Regions will be in “orange” alarm on the second (11.08.2025) for the possibility of event fire. Civil protection, with the map it issued, warns residents of these areas being very careful.
And tomorrow the winds are expected to blow up to 8 beaufort. Although there will be no extreme risk for a fire (as it was over the weekend), the chance of a fire will also be high.
Specifically for Monday there will be a very high risk of fire (risk category 4) in the following areas:
- Attica Region (including the island of Kythera)
- Peloponnese Region (Corinthia, IP Argolida, IP of Arcadia, IP Laconia)
- Region of Western Greece
- Region of Epirus (Preveza IP)
- Region of Central Greece (IP Fthiotida, PE Boeotia, IP Fokida, IP of Evia including the island of Skyros)
- Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Evros IP including the island of Samothrace)
- North Aegean Region (IP Lesvos, PE Lemnos, PE Chios)
Almost all over the rest of the country there will be High risk.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection (civilProtection.gov.gr) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection has informed the relevant state -owned government agencies, as well as the regions and municipalities of the above areas, in order to be on increased civil protection readiness to address any immediate fires.
At the same time, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection recommends that citizens are very careful and to avoid actions in the countryside that can cause fire by negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using sparks, cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that the burning of the fields are prohibited during the fire period.
In the event of a fire, citizens are kindly requested to alert the Fire Service immediately in the 199 call number 199.
