Aiming to radically change the image of the port of Piraeus- whose passenger traffic is 11.5 million passengers- and to upgrade its operation for the benefit of travelers, the Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikiliashe held a meeting with PPA SA this afternoon, Su Xudong and Deputy Managing Director Angelos Karakosta.
The Ministry and the PPA administration agreed to a common framework for direct interventions, focusing on the traveler – Greek or foreign – and aiming to enhance the security, accessibility and quality of services.
Interventions agreed include:

Excision passengers: Creating passenger stations and shelters with cooling systems, WC installation, free drinking water supply, first aid station operation.

The implementation begins immediately and the goal is, already in the summer, that a new image of Piraeus, worthy of its importance, be begun to be captured as a national gateway to the islands of the country.

B. KIKILIAS: First of all, I would like to thank Mr. SU and the administration of PPA for their continued presence and cooperation. We would like to announce that in the coming weeks and by mid -June, we will proceed with the following investments related to the port part of the ferry and therefore, the 11.5 million Greek visitors and foreign tourists visiting the country’s largest port. They will concern specific areas inside the port, which can park cars and trucks to board the ships and land. And all the security rules in the port of Piraeus. Free fresh water, in chillers for visitors and travelers. Chemical toilets. A special trash sorting and collection system, in terms of recycling and cleaning in the port. Copras, which have already begun and are placed, along with special benches and dew systems for those waiting for the ships. And everything else needed and required in times, in “waves”, so that our visitors to the port of Piraeus – where Cosco and PPA have made very significant investments – to feel and see these investments and the port of the port.
