The most shocking moment of his career – and his life – lived a presenter FOX TV news in the US when he discovered he had cancer of the skin during live television broadcast.
Mike Jerrick, presenter of the “Good Day Philadelphia” show on FOX29, He presented a theme for skin examination with Dr. Joanna Walker, a dermatologist at Tara Miller Melanoma Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
As they discussed the importance of skin control for signs of cancer, Walker examined a point on Jerrick’s right elbow and found that it was basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer.
“It has all the features of the most common type of skin cancer, which is treated when diagnosed early,” Walker told the show.
Jerick expressed his surprise and asked, “What are you going to do, will you be cared for?”
The good news, he said, is that tBasal cell carcinoma is a “very slowly growing type of skin cancer” which is not likely to spread to other parts of the body.
“But you have to remove it so that it does not continue to grow and understand normal skin,” Walker advised.
Jerrick spoke with Fox News Digital about the revelation, noting that It was a big surprise for him.
“I said he should bring the [μικρο]Skopje, because I wanted to control a few things in my hands, so this place was scheduled, but I never thought it would be skin cancer, “he said.
The dermatologist immediately recognized it, Jerrick said.
“When he said, I didn’t worry,” Jerrick said. “I just thought, ‘Oh, I should have done that for a long time.'”
“I was more surprised that he said he would remove it instead of burning it – that was what surprised me.”
Jerrick has scheduled the operation for Friday (06.06.2025). “I’ll be okay,” he said. “It will just get me stitches and I will leave.”
