At least one person was killed and six others were injured by gunfire that took place last night, Saturday (25/10/2025), in University Lincoln’s Pennsylvaniain the US, after the university’s homecoming football game, according to authorities.
A total of seven people were shot at the university, Chester County, Pennsylvania, District Attorney Christopher de Barena-Sarobe said at a news conference early Sunday (10/26/2025).
He said a person allegedly holding a gun was arrested, while someone else may have fired the shots. Investigators are still trying to piece together the “puzzle” of events. “There is some evidence that leads us to conclude that this is a possible theory at this time,” he said.
The attack broke out before 9:30 p.m. after the crowd left the football game and gathered outside the university’s International Cultural Center.
At least three people with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital Christiana in Wilmington, Delaware, and one more pChristianaCare in Newark, Delaware, Jay Moore of the Chester County Sheriff’s Office told CNN.
The situation remains “very active”a Pennsylvania State Police spokesman said, without providing further details.

Tragically, several people received medical attention at the scene after being trampled while trying to escape the scene of the shooting.
No further information about the attacker(s) has been released so far, and authorities have asked the public to avoid the area around the university. The district attorney’s office said the incident is being investigated by local, state and federal authorities, urging anyone with information to contact the FBI.

Lincoln University is approx 90 kilometers west of Philadelphia and is considered the first historically Black university in the United States that awards degrees, according to the institution’s website.
“Please join me in praying for the students and faculty at Lincoln University, as well as the brave members of the authorities on the ground. It appears there was a mass shooting tonight there,” Chester County Commissioner Eric Rowe wrote in a Facebook post Saturday night.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said he was aware of the incident and offered his full support of his state administration to the university and local law enforcement.
“Please avoid the area, follow the instructions of local authorities and join our prayers for the Lincoln University community,” Shapiro said.

The incident occurred one day after five people were wounded in a shooting near Howard University in Washington, also a historically Black universityas Homecoming events were getting underway. Police said none of the victims were Howard students.
