A new step in his diplomatic strategy Donald Trump in the Middle East: Kazakhstan is to join the Abraham Accords with Israelas announced on Thursday (06.11.2025) by the White House.
The expansion of this process of normalization of relations between Israel and various Muslim countries, including Kazakhstanis a symbolic victory for US President Donald Trump, who had launched the Accords during his first term.
According to a senior US official, this accession is intended to “deepen” the already existing relations between Israel and Kazakhstan, which have maintained diplomatic ties for more than thirty years.
“A lot of countries are in the process of joining the Abraham Accords and I hope that Saudi Arabia will soon be among them,” Donald Trump said on Wednesday, also saying he was pressing Syria to follow suit.
The Abraham Accords initiative, launched in 2020 under the Trump presidency, had allowed Israel to normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. Instead, Syria, Lebanon and notably Saudi Arabia have refused to participate, with Riyadh making the creation of a Palestinian state a condition — something Benjamin Netanyahu’s government rejects.
The inclusion of Kazakhstan, a Muslim but non-Arab country, thus marks an important development: it expands the Accords’ diplomatic reach beyond the Arab world, while strengthening the United States’ strategy of rapprochement between Israel and Muslim countries against Iranian influence in the region.
