The dynasty of Kennedy is preparing to return to the political foreground of USA. In a video posted on social media, Schlossberg — son of former ambassador Caroline Kennedy and artist Edwin Schlossberg — announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives in the November 2026 election.
A graduate of Yale and Harvard universities, the young Democrat and grandson of Kennedy presents himself as a progressive voice against what he calls a “crisis at all levels” in the US: rising costs of living, shrinking social programs, corruption and threats to democracy.
Strongly anti-Trump speech
Schlossberg does not hide his open opposition to the US president, Donald Trump, whom he describes as “dangerous” and a “potentially authoritarian leader”. She accuses him of trampling on civil rights, silencing his opponents and reinforcing the entanglement between power and money.
According to Schlossberg, Democratic control of Congress will be crucial to “preventing a third Trump term” — a possibility the Republican president himself has hinted at, despite the constitutional ban.
An “heir” with a strong online presence
At age 32, Schlossberg is already enjoying significant publicity. He is particularly active on Instagram and TikTok, where he has more than 1.5 million followers, and has established himself as a sharp political commentator close to the Democratic left wing.
He will attempt to succeed veteran Rep. Jerry Nadler, who is retiring from politics after three decades in the House of Representatives. The internal party elections are expected to be highly competitive, as many Democrats have already declared their candidacy for the same seat.
Schlossberg recently stood out by endorsing the campaign of socialist Zoran Mamdani, who was elected mayor of New York last week. He did not hesitate, however, to publicly criticize his cousin, Robert Kennedy Jr. — now the Trump administration’s health secretary — accusing him of “betraying the family’s legacy.”
With this nomination, the historic Kennedy dynasty appears to be seeking to recapture the reformist spirit that marked the 1960s — in an America more divided than ever.
