The US president Donald Trump announced today that she would not eventually propose Elise Stephanick for US Ambassador to UNciting the poor majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives.
Elise Stefanik has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2015, representing the 21st New York constituency. Since her candidacy for the US ambassador to the United Nations (UN) was approved by Donald Trump, she would have to resign from her parliamentary office, which would entail elections for its headquarters in the US Parliament.
President Trump preferred not to risk the loss of the Republican Party’s headquarters and announced through a post on the Truth Social platform that it was “imperative to maintain any Republican headquarters in Congress”.
Indeed, the US president emphasized Stefanik’s role in his government’s priorities, noting that it was “a vital part of our efforts from the beginning”.
The president said he personally asked Stefanik to stay in Congress to help achieve “historical tax cuts, big jobs, a record of economic growth, safe borders, energy sovereignty, peace through power and much more.”
In the past, Stefanik has faced criticism of its hard -core pro -Israeli attitude, including its support for far -right Israeli officials and its claim that the UN is prejudiced against Israel.
In the past, it expressed its support for far -right Israeli officials who claim that Israel has a “biblical right” throughout the occupied West Bank. In addition, he received disapproval in an Anti-Defamation League (ADL) conference in March, arguing that the attack on October 7, 2023 from Hamas to Israel would not have happened if Trump was still in power.
