Local investigative offices, as well as scales of the Arson Criminal Office (DAE), are investigating the causes of fires.
The Fire Brigade, due to the very high risk of a fire, (Category 4), provided for tomorrow, begs all citizens to be particularly careful and in the event of a fire, for their own safety, to follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
It is noted that the Investigative Services of the PA have made three arrests and imposition of fines yesterday, in Crete, Samothraki and Pella (two for fires in outdoor spaces and the third for rejection of flammable materials).
In detail:
* Arrested yesterday, August 20, 2025, in the context of the autopsy procedure by investigative officials of the PC. Vryson, a national, for a fire that was caused by a forest area, in violation of the current legislation, in the area of the Municipality of Apokoronas in Crete.
* An administrative fine of EUR 2,000, on August 15, 2025, was imposed by investigating officials of the PC. Alexandroupolis, in a national, which set fire to an outdoor area, in violation of the current legislation, in the area of Samothraki.
* An administrative fine of EUR 750, yesterday, August 21, 2025, was imposed by investigating officials of the PS. Giannitson, in a native, for rejection of flammable materials in a rural area, in violation of the current legislation, in the area of the Municipality of Giannitsa in Pella.
