An art exhibition entitled “Bank” that included works by Greek painters from the collection of the National Gallery, was organized by the Greek permanent delegation to the UN on the occasion of our country’s presidency at the United Nations Security Council.
The inauguration of the exhibition, which took place at the headquarters of the International Organization, was held by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
In his address, the prime minister emphasized the importance of his visit as a crown of Greece’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy and noted that the report is theme with the debate of the Security Council on sea security, which is one of the six priorities of the Greek term.
The prime minister emphasized Greece’s deep connection with the sea as an element of geography, culture and identity.
“Greece is a ‘navy’ nation, with strong interests in the sea. The sea is an integral part of our geography, our history, our culture, our identity,” he noted.
The exhibition presents eleven original works of major Greek artists from the National Gallery, highlighting the sea as a source of inspiration, cultural heritage and economic activity.
“I would like to thank the National Gallery and its Director for their excellent support and their cooperation to organize this exhibition, which seeks to present the inextricable relationship between the sea and the human history. Economic activity factor, ”the prime minister said.
In closing, Mr Mitsotakis pointed out that the sea unites the peoples and facilitates communication, trade and international cooperation, while at the same time demanding protection. He linked the message of the report to the UN mission: the maintenance of peace, the promotion of human rights and to protect the environment.
“There is no better place to expose this message than here, to the United Nations, after all, their mission, we must not forget this is to link humanity.
