Ukraine: “fire” by Zelenski launches Russia – “He is not capable of negotiating for a ceasefire”

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs RussiaMaria Sakharova, today accused (24.04.2025) the Ukrainian President, Volodimir Zelenskithat he refuses to make retreats in peace talks aimed at ending war and that he is open to a truce only on his own terms.

Maria Sakharova said during a weekly report by reporters that it is becoming increasingly clear that Volodimir Zelenski does not have the ability to negotiate an agreement to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry estimated that the decision of European countries to continue providing weapons to Kiev, encourages Zelenski to continue the war, regardless of the losses that the Ukrainian army exists.

This attitude shows that some European countries are afraid of a Russian victory, Zaharova stressed.

Moscow’s reaction comes after a new attack launched by US President Donald Trump against Zelenski, who accused “incendiary” statements regarding Crimea, while he said a “close” agreement with Russia.

The debate is “more difficult” with the Ukrainian president, said Trump, who has approached Moscow after his return to the White House.

Kiev’s refusal to accept the US terms to end the war “will simply extend the killings,” the Republican warned.

At the heart of this new escalation of the tension is the Ukrainian Peninsula of Crimea, which was annexed in 2014 by Russia.

This territory has been “lost” for Ukraine, according to Trump, who criticizes Zelenski for statements he made on Tuesday, according to which: “There is nothing to discuss (…) is our area.”

For his part, Putin seems to believe that time is rolling to his advantage. Despite the major casualties, the Russian army continues new profits in eastern Ukraine.

In this context, Putin insists on his maximalist demands: a de facto tradition of Ukraine, Kiev to pledge that he will not join NATO and recognize the five provinces annexed by Russia. These requirements are rejected by Ukraine and its western allies.
