Ukraine: Citizens are in favor of truce with Russia but only with clear security guarantees

Ukrainians seem to be in favor of a ceasefire of fire, with the Russia but only if clear security guarantees are provided for the Ukraineaccording to a new poll.

Of the 1,600 citizens involved in the survey, 75% consider security guarantees from Europe and the US as a prerequisite for ending hostilities between Ukraine and Russia, according to a survey conducted by the Ukrainian Rating Group.

In the midst of US President Donald Trump’s efforts for ceasefire talks, discussions focus on Ukrainian calls for reliable security guarantees aimed at preventing Russia to launch a new attack on the future against its neighboring country.

According to the poll, 82% of respondents believe that negotiations are a realistic course for ending the war.

Of these, 62% are in favor of participating in other countries to help reach a compromise, while 20% support direct negotiations with Moscow.

Of the survey participants, 59% support the end of hostilities and the pursuit of a compromise, while 20% say the war wants to continue until the Donbas province and the Crimean peninsula is fully recovered.

Only 13% support the return to the border before the Russian invasion on 23 February 2022, which would deprive Crimea and Donbas.

The Ukrainian Rating Group’s survey was carried out with a sample of 1,600 people in Ukraine and was conducted between August 21 and 23.
