Turkey: Video from the scary fires that continue to burn the country – 7 villages were evacuated

Hundreds of people were removed from seven villages in the Tourist province of Tsanakkale, in northwest Turkeybecause of a new fire which broke out yesterday Saturday (16/8/2025).

The fire that began yesterday was expanded quickly due to the strong winds on the hills near Gallipoli (Gelibolou), on the Dardanelles Strait coast of Turkey.

During the night, about 250 inhabitants were forced to leave five villages, while two more were evacuated today, Canakkale Omer Toraman wrote in X, without specifying the total number of residents who have been removed from their homes.

“Until now, the fire has not reached the zones that have been evacuated,” the commander assured, adding that the flames “did not touch” the military cemeteries of the peninsula.

A total of 12 planes and 18 helicopters are fighting with flames, as well as 343 firefighters, as part of a business involving 1,300 people, Georgia Minister Ibrahim Yumakli wrote on X.

He added, today the conditions are better as the wind blows slightly less intensity. “The moisture level has also increased. These weather conditions offer us more advantages than yesterday. In this respect, efforts go more positive than yesterday. “

As for the citizens of the evacuated villages, they have been transferred to safe areas.

The governor had also reminded that the tourist destination for the ruins of ancient Troy, as well as the Gallipoli battlefield, where thousands of soldiers died during World War I, was hit by a “extremely serious drought” last year.
