A family tragedy happened in Constantinople when 2 minor children who were on holiday with their parents in Turkey died from food poisoning in a popular tourist area of the city. Their parents are in a serious condition in hospital.
“Despite all the efforts made, the children, aged 6 and 3, could not be saved from food poisoning. The parents remain in an intensive care unit,” the Istanbul provincial director of the Turkish Ministry of Health told X.
According to new information, their father was intubated, while their mother remains in the intensive care unit.
Tragic of course is the fact that family members they first went to a nearby hospital due to constant nausea and vomiting. After receiving the necessary treatment from the hospital, they took discharge and returned to the hotel.
Hours later, the mother saw her daughter motionless in her hotel room and called for immediate action. All the family members were taken to the hospital, but they were too late for the kids who died in hospital.
“An investigation has been launched by the health department,” added Dr. Abdullah Emre Guner, who clarified that the family was hospitalized for “alleged food poisoning.”

According to private television network NTV, citing a “police investigation”, the family is originally from Germany, home to a large Turkish community, and was on holiday in Turkey.
Local media reports that food poisoning possibly it came from clams which were bought from a street vendor and stuffed potatoes, known as “kumpir”, a popular street food, which they ate on Tuesday (11/11/2025) in the tourist area of Ortakoy on the European side of the Bosphorus.
Police have launched an investigation at both the hotel and the restaurant where the family ate the food to determine the source of the poisoning.
