Ten Dasgis and Volunteer Firefighters were killed while participating in the extinguishing large forestry fire In Escisehir in the west Turkeysaid today, Wednesday (23/7/2025), by the Minister of Agriculture and Forests Ibrahim Yumakli.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Turkish Forestry, a total of 24 people, 19 of whom were Dasgigans, were trapped in the flames of the fire, and 10 of them died.
Among the trapped was the Director of Forests of the Escisehir Region, Ismail Cetin.
At first the authorities had made public that the victims were eleven. “We feel great sadness over the loss of the 11 heroic lesions, who were killed by the struggles with the flames,” a MP, Nebi Hatipoglou, wrote in a post on the X platform.

The fire began on Tuesday morning (22/7/2025) in a forest area near the villages of Bouyoukiala and Fetig and expanded to the neighboring province of Apioncarachar.
The extinguishing efforts are attempted by air and hiking sections of the Fire Brigade.
