Britain signs £8bn deal to sell 20 Typhoon fighter jets Eurofighter Typhoon in Turkey, as it became known on Monday afternoon (27/10/25).
Keir Starmer told Bloomberg about the Eurofighters, it is a show of force to Putin about NATO’s long-term unity.
“This is a very important message about the strength of Europe and NATO,” Starmer said in an interview in Ankara.
“Turkey is vital to NATO’s south-east flank and therefore sends a strong message to Putin that NATO is stronger than ever,” the British prime minister said.
Britain is promoting this sale as a way to use its defense and security superiority to maintain close relations with a country that is a member of NATO but also has ties to Russia.
It is the UK’s biggest fighter jet sale deal in nearly two decades.
