“Today’s traditions are the most tangible proof that our struggle was not in vain,” the Turkish president added, calling Aselsan the “heart” of the Turkish defense industry.

With Steel Dome, Turkey “enters a new level of air defense,” Erdogan said.

Traditions made today included the HISAR-O 100 and Siper air defense systems, Alp 300-G and 100-G radar systems, Puhu and Redet electronic war systems, and Korkut’s short-range airline vehicles.

The ceremony also marked the beginning of the construction of the new Oğulbey technological base, which, as Erdogan said, “will more than double Aselsan’s mass productive capacity through a $ 1.5 billion investment.”

“This marks the largest investment in the defense industry ever made in Turkey’s history,” the Turkish president added.
‘Any country that does not develop its own systems cannot be safe’

According to him, the first facility on the campus will be launched in the middle of next year, although it did not specify when the entire complex is expected to be launched.

The ceremony also launched 14 new facilities, which, according to Aselsan General Manager Ahmet Akyol, will boost the company’s capacity by 40% and employ about 4,000 people.
