Rapid are the developments in Turkey After the arrest of Imamoglouafter the Turkish Supreme Council of Radio and Television imposed fines and heavy penalties on channels, which covered not only the detention of former Mayor of Constantinople but also the huge demonstrations for his support.
In fact, the Sozcu channel announced today (27.03.2025) that it was convicted by the Turkish Supreme Council of Radio and Television with a 10 -day suspension of operations, with the competent state authorities “throwing black” and threatening to recall the case.
In particular, SOZCU channel executives said it was the heaviest penalty imposed by the Turkish Supreme Council of Radio and Television in its history, while the suspension of 10 -day operation is the toughest penalty prior to the final cancellation of the channel’s license.
The reason, as the Turkish media reports, is that various broadcasts on the channel was expressed “excessive” criticism of the arrest and detention of Ekrem Imamoglu.
A member of the Turkish Supreme Council of Radio and Television said the Sozcu channel was condemned for allegedly “incitement to the public to hatred and hostility” by comments that were broadcast live by Imoglou’s supporters’ demonstrators in Constantinople.

For the 10 days that Sozcu will not work, the viewers ‘screens will be sent a message with the authorities’ decision. The Turkish channel also imposed an administrative fine due to “offensive statements” made by a senior executive of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) against Devlet Bachseli, leader of the nationalist far -right and government partner.
