Tsipras from Washington: The mobilization of Turkish warships in unacceptable warships against the cable Pontic in the Aegean

Continues contacts with political agents in Washington The Alexis Tsipras. The former prime minister, as reported on X (former twitter) also had meetings with researchers and students from every corner of the globe while at the same time he had the opportunity to expose his views on Greek -Turkish, stressing, among other things, that the sale of F35 in Turkey should not go ahead.

In detail what he wrote:

“Continuing my contacts and speeches in Washington where I am, invited and guest of the Center for Greek Studies at Harvard University, I had the opportunity to talk to many researchers and postgraduate or postdoctoral students, or archeology. And it was really extremely charming to hear the Japanese speaking ancient Greek or Americans to analyze the Stoic philosophers.

As part of my stay in the US capital, beyond its Meeting me with Bernie SandersI also had the opportunity to meet with two politicians who have consistently supported Greece’s positions, the Democratic Senate Senator at Maryland and a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Chris Van Hollen and the Greek -American MP of the Republican Party, Gus Bilirakis State Department, Europe and Eurasia, Mr. Joshua Huck.

At the same time, I participated in a closed discussion organized to hear my views, the Center for American Progress, with representatives of the Brookings Institute, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Center for International Policy and George Washington University.

I thus had the opportunity to emphasize the importance of Greece as a pillar of peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans, especially in this period of destabilization. I added that Greek -American relations must be promoted in the context of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

I emphasized that the mobilization of Turkish warships against the Pontic of electric cable in the Aegean is unacceptable and the US should contribute so that Greece can exercise its rights under international law.

I also emphasized that the sale of F35 in Turkey should not proceed, as it will have negative consequences on the balance of forces in the Eastern Mediterranean and Syria, but also on Greek -American relations.

Finally, I reiterated my proposal to reboot the debate on the Hague shelf delimitation and interconnection with EU – Turkey negotiations on a new financial agreement, as well as my support for re -launching talks for a fair and viable solution.

At the same time, in Congress I met with the progressive, Democratic MP of California, Ro Khanna, a co -chair of Bernie Sanders’ campaign. We talked about the Trump economic policy, its impact on the world economy and Euro -American relations, as well as technological developments.

We focused on its positions on “economic patriotism” and the importance of developing progressive economic policies at national level, based on the exploitation of new technologies.

Finally, in his office in the Capitol, I met with the Progressive, Democratic Senator of Massachusetts and rapporteur of the new green agenda in the Senate in 2019, Ed Markey. We talked about the impact of Trump’s tariff policy on the global and American economy, energy developments and the importance of a fair transition to the green agenda. With Senator Markey, as well as with Senator Van Hollen, I also talked about Palestinian, as the day I met them in the Senate he was in vote and voted in favor of the Sanders amendments to fail to send a $ 8.8 billion military aid to the US. “
