Criticism of Alexis Tsipras and the attitude of the “enlightened leader who says come to me because I speak directly to the people” was exercised by Euclid Tsakalotoswho, however, told SKAI that he will read his book.
“Obviously I will read it because for example I don’t know why after a memorandum we got 31.5% which is a miracle – because parties after memorandums collapse – and in 2023 we got 17.8%. I haven’t heard from Alexis why this happened”
Starting with the rationale that “we are in an era when the model of capitalism will change, as in the 1970s we went from social democracy to neoliberalism”, Mr. Tsakalotos said that “Alexis wanted to move the party towards the center and this created ambiguities. When you put in the program and Antonaro and Kedikoglou people ask who are you with?’ to add “I think centrist solutions don’t work”.
Especially for today’s Alexis Tsiprasthe former finance minister of the governments told him “I see him in a mood towards the center” while when asked if there could be collaborations he replied “New Left can collaborate with Tsipras and with PASOK and with SYRIZA, but this will not happen with an enlightened leader who says come to me because I speak directly to the people”.
“Sometimes an enlightened charismatic person can represent a new program. If he wanted to collectively serve a left program that faces not only the international problems, the desolation of the country and the demographic, an enlightened leader can do this” he continued in this context.
According to him, in fact, “we have many obstacles for Mitsotakis to fall. We have his obstacle PASOK because a liberal popular front is an oxymoronic scheme. We have it KKE and the MeRA25 who want their part to grow and we have Tsipras who says the opposition doesn’t cut it for them and I have to go.”
He also estimated that “h New Left I see no reason for it to close” while for him SYRIZA “he said he will cooperate (with the Tsipras party) with something he does not know and that is beyond me”
“If the left doesn’t get serious and doesn’t do reconstruction, the left without social movements won’t change the balance of forces. At the moment, Mitsotakis has the upper hand. You don’t change a system with a passive vote. It doesn’t change if Mitsotakis leaves, let him be whoever he wants,” concluded Euclid Tsakalotos.
