Trump: US-South Korea trade deal ‘very soon’

A commercial agreement between USA and her South Korea could be completed “very soon” said today (29.10.25) US President Donald Trump.

Ahead of his meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Trump stressed the importance of his economic policy in bringing investment back to the US. At the same time, he pledged to help “settle” tensions in South Korea with its nuclear-armed northern neighbor.

The two Koreas remain technically at war, as their conflict (1950–1953) ended in an armistice rather than a peace treaty. Trump has repeatedly expressed his intention to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, but has said the timing of that trip does not allow for it.

Finally, the American president revealed that Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected in South Korea tomorrow (30.10.25), expressing his optimism that “the two countries will reach a good agreement”.
