Apple manufactures most of its iPhones in China and has no smartphone production in the US. The company has promised to hire more US employees and pledged to spend billions on the domestic market over the next four years.
The supply chain for Apple’s popular phones has been gathered in China for years. Earlier this month, Trump also put pressure on Apple, saying that he asked Tim Cook, his chief executive, to stop building factories in India – part of an attempt to shift production from China – and to focus on the US instead.
