US President Donald Trump said Wednesday (4.6.2025) today that it is “extremely difficult” to reach an agreement with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jing, while the White House suggests that the two leaders could talk this week.
Scott Bessed, US Finance Minister, said in the US last Thursday (29.5.2025) that the trade talks were “a little stuck” and that the leaders of the two countries would probably have to weigh.
On Monday (2.6.2025), a senior White House official told CNBC that Trump and Si are likely to speak this week. Remained unclear if such a call had been arranged.
Following this statement by the US official, Donald Trump today posted a post on Truth Social, disappointed by Chinese President Xi Jing, despite his sympathy for him.
“I like China’s Si’s President, I always like him and I will always like him, but he is very tough, and and extremely difficult to agree on !!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
