To the need to have a common defense umbrella between state -member states EUas well as the necessary financial tools for its support were mentioned by the Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendiason the occasion of his participation in the informal Council of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the European Union with the participation of defense ministersorganized by the Polish Presidency in Warsaw.
At the same time, Mr. Dendias drew the attention of his colleagues to the third countries wishing to participate in the common European defense by “photographing” her Turkey.
In this context, “we must discuss with great seriousness which third countries will participate in this European venture. Because the third countries involved should subscribe to the principles and values of the European Union, “the Minister of National Defense noted.
It should be noted that the main themes of the Council concerned the Rearm Europe Plan, the White Paper for European Defense and the situation in Ukraine.
In detail, Nikos Dendia’s statement:
I think today’s meeting in Warsaw, and especially the debate on Rearm Europe, as well as Ukraine’s issues, is extremely important.
The European agenda (“Readiness 2030”), which coincides with our “agenda 2030” – both have the same deadline – is something that is particularly concerned with Greece.
We deeply believe that there must be a common European defense and there must be these financial tools that will help this defense create.
It is also very important to discuss common initiatives. I recall that Greece, along with Poland, have proposed the creation of a European protection dome.
Achilles’ shield can provide an excellent example of many issues that concern Europe’s protection to ether.
On the other hand, we must discuss with great seriousness which third countries will participate in this European venture. Because the third countries involved should subscribe to the principles and values of the European Union.
And, of course, it is not meant to participate in the European Defense Building, in any way, countries that threaten EU member states.
After all, Europe is an alliance and a common existence or coexistence of values, and we must always remember it.
