An important initiative to investigate the tragedy of Tempi, with the president of the Association “Tempi 28/2/2023“, Maria Karystianou, seems to be gaining ground on the political scene. Opposition parties and independent MPs are actively supporting their support for the establishment of a preliminary investigation committee.
The response to the call is already strong, as the number of Members who declare intention to sign the request is potentially at 36. This number exceeds the 30 signatures set by the House of Representatives to submit such a proposal. Supporters’ bloc includes the Greek solution, victory, navigation freedom, as well as independent MPs affiliated with the Democracy Movement.
The proposal submitted by Ms. Karystianou aims to investigate the responsibility for the accident, nominating against Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, as well as a series of former and current ministers. Among the names included are Kostas Ah. Karamanlis, George Gerapetritis, as well as former SYRIZA government minister Christos Spirtzis, covering a wide range of politicians who managed critical areas.
Ms. Karystianou, in her appeal to the whole of Parliament, stresses the need to vote for the proposal as a fundamental step in restoring confidence in the rule of law, the administration of justice and the healing of the wounds left by the tragedy and the efforts that followed.
Tempi Preliminary: SYRIZA’s proposal was submitted with 33 signatures
SYRIZA’s proposal for the establishment of a preliminary committee was submitted to Parliament to investigate the crime of Tempi. The proposal is signed by 33 MPs, 26 from SYRIZA, 6 independent MPs – members of the Republic Movement, as well as the independent MP Areti Papaioannou.
The proposal, pursuant to Article 86 (3) of the Constitution, Articles 153 et seq. Of the House of Representatives and Article 5 of Law 3126/2003 on the “Criminal Responsibility of Ministers” relates to the “investigation of any crimes that have committed, in the exercise of their duties, the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister and the Ministers: Kyriakos, 2. Karamanlis Constantinos, 3. Kefalogiannis Ioannis, 4. Karagiannis Georgios, 5. Papadopoulos Michael and 6. Among other things, the “six” of the “six” of the crime of criminal disruption of the security of the transport of a fixed track is being investigated.
In a statement by the SYRIZA-PSA CO, it is noted that the proposal “is complete, legally documented and relates to the investigation of possible criminal liability for 6 persons, including Mr Mitsotakis for four offenses of which the two felonies. SYRIZA – MS with a sense of responsibility has kept its commitment to Greek society in full to investigate all possible offenses for all involved, however tall they are. We call on all Members of the Greek Parliament to support our proposal.
