Major car manufacturers don’t get involved in motorsport just for the prestige – they often carry some of their racing technology into their passenger models. This is how Toyota thinks, which may have lost this year’s title in the World Endurance Championship where it participated with the prototype TS030, with which of course it also raced at Le Mans, but it will not only continue in the institution but also intends to take advantage of the know-how from its participation in this institution.
So the TS030 uses hybrid technology and a kinetic energy recovery system, also known from Formula 1 KERS. So the Japanese are thinking of integrating such a system into their new pride… of the road, the Toyota GT86!
