The American Geological Institute has recalled a tsunami warning after earthquake of 7 points today (30.03.2025) off the offspring of the islands Tongin the Pacific.

The earthquake had a small focal depth and its focus was located at a distance of 80 kilometers south-southeast of the Pangai village in the Tonga Islands.

“Based on all available data, we exclude the possibility of a tsunami because of this vibration,” said the US alert system that initially considered it possible to form dangerous waves of 30cm to one meter within a radius of up to 300 kilometers from the focus.

The National Disaster Management Service of the Tona is, however, warned residents not to approach the beaches and those living in low altitude areas moving inside.

Earthquakes are a common phenomenon in Tonga, an archipelago with about 100,000 inhabitants located on the so -called “Ring of Fire” of the Pacific.
