Basic instructions for exams
The Central Committee of Examination and Drawing Procedures stipulate that students should have secured before the exam day and have with them when attending the examination center:

Candidates should enter the examination center at least one hour before the start of the written test until 9:00, when the entrance to the examination center closes. Candidates are allowed to have a bottle of water, dark blue or black pen and geometric instruments with them. The use of corrective, eraser, no calculator is not allowed. The duration of the written test is:
– 150 minutes for Standard Gymnasiums and Public Onassis Gymnasiums and

– 180 minutes for Lyceum Standards and Public Onassis Lyceum
– 240 minutes for Ecclesiastical Lyceum standards.
For candidates with special educational needs, the examination time is augmented by 45 minutes.
A strong retirement is given an hour (60 minutes) after the written test is initiated.
The examinations
Candidates for admission to the First Class of Standard and/or Gymnasium Onassis are evaluated in skills they have acquired during their studies in Elementary School, related to understanding Greek language texts and mathematics, in the context of a single test of 150 minutes. Understanding Greek language texts controls the abilities of students in understanding of written texts and content (literary texts, simple newspaper or magazine articles, multimodal texts, etc.) as well as the use of basic grammar and editorial phenomena. Mathematics control the abilities of students in understanding and solving problems of daily life but also problems with simple arithmetic actions.
Candidates for admission to the 1st High School of Standard and/or High School are evaluated in the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their Gymnasium studies, related to the understanding of Greek language texts and mathematics in the context of a single test.
More specifically, the cognitive field of understanding Greek texts examines the abilities in understanding written texts of various genres and content (literary texts, articles from newspapers and magazines, letters, simple essays, multimodal texts, etc.). The math cognitive field examines the abilities of students in understanding and solving daily life as well as numerical, algebraic, geometric, statistical knowledge and skills.
Candidates for admission to Ecclesiastical Gymnasium standards are evaluated in knowledge and skills they acquired during their elementary school studies, related to understanding of Greek language texts, mathematics and in addition to religious, in the context of a single test of 225 minutes. Greek language and mathematics are examined in common with candidates for admission to Standard Schools. In particular, in terms of religious, students’ skills are controlled in recognizing basic elements of Orthodox Christian faith and ecclesiastical life and the subjects of the religious subject of the religious subject are accompanied by auxiliary materials, such as texts and exercises, which is utilized by the candidates.
Candidates for admission to Ecclesiastical Lyceum standards are evaluated in knowledge and skills they have acquired during their attendance at the Gymnasium related to the understanding of Greek language texts, mathematics and religious, in the context of a single four -hour test (4). Greek language and mathematics are examined in common with candidates for admission to Standard Schools. In the field of religious field, students’ abilities to recognize basic elements of Orthodox Christian faith and ecclesiastical life.
For the introduction to the standards, the set of questions are 40: twenty (20) for mathematics and twenty (20) for understanding the text of the Greek language.
For the introduction to Ecclesiastical Schools, the set of questions are 60: twenty (20) for mathematics, twenty (20) for understanding the text of the Greek language and twenty (20) for religious.
All questions are multiple choice and all of the rating units are 100 for standards and 150 for Ecclesiastical School Standards.
Regarding the test for admission to the Public Onassis Schools, the total of the questions is 50: Twenty -five (25) for mathematics and twenty -five (25) for understanding the text of the Greek language. And in this test, all the questions are multiple choice.
The numbers
According to figures released by the Ministry of Education, the total number of applications exceeded 25,000, which, it is estimated, “demonstrates the wide and ever -increasing acceptance of the institution”.
More specifically, they were deposited:
– 9,056 applications for 1,775 posts in Standard Schools.
– 3,274 applications for 1,166 posts in public Onassis schools.
– 328 applications for 380 posts in Ecclesiastical School Standards.
– 12,159 applications for 3,134 seats in experimental schools.
