Times of Israel: Mossad reveals mastermind of ‘Iranian terror network’ operating in Greece, Australia and Germany

OR Mossad revealed the existence of an international terrorist network which, according to it, operates under the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Iran and is responsible for recent attacks on Jewish targets in the West.

As the Times of Israel reports, the network, led by Iranian commander Sardar Amr, is said to be operating in Europe – such as Greece and Germany – and Australia, using criminal organizations and non-Iranian associates to hide its connection to Tehran, which the Mossad is investigating.

More specifically, Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad has released information about an international terrorist network led by the Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). The network is said to be behind a series of attacks against Jewish targets in Western countries in recent months.

According to the Mossad, the organization is headed by senior Quds Force commander Sardar Ammar, who manages about 11,000 agents to conduct covert operations around the world. The Israeli agency claims that the network’s activities intensified after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.

The Mossad says the group has carried out vandalism and arson attacks on Jewish businesses and community institutions, with the aim of intimidating Jewish communities and creating a “climate of insecurity” that could lead to more serious attacks. At the same time, the network allegedly planned attacks against senior figures in the Jewish community in various countries.

The agency reported three typical incidents connected to the network:

  • July 2024 – Greece: The anti-terrorist agency arrested seven people, including two Iranians, for arson attacks against an Israeli-owned hotel and synagogue in central Athens.
  • July 2025 – Germany/Denmark: German authorities announced that Danish police had arrested a man who was allegedly collecting information on Jewish targets in Berlin on behalf of Iranian intelligence.
  • August 2025 – Australia: Australian authorities have accused Iran of involvement in two arson attacks in 2024, at the Adass Israel Synagogue in Melbourne and a kosher restaurant in Sydney. Canberra expelled the Iranian ambassador following the incidents.

The Mossad points out that, to hide its connection to Tehran, the network recruited non-Iranians and cooperated with criminal organizations, maintaining a high degree of anonymity.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, the attacks were described by intelligence agencies as “amateur and ill-conceived,” according to a report in the Times of Israel.
