The expansion of actions with Mobile Health Teams (MOHs) almost throughout the country, with the aim of covering the health needs of the population nationwide, he announced today the political leadership of the Ministry of Health.
The Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis stated that the COMYs from their pilot application showed that they are one of the most effective and successful actions of the Ministry of Health. “The work they do with their visits to people who do not have easy access to health services, in small communities, their contact with the world and their offer is shocking”, stressed Mr. Georgiadis and added that the program is completely guaranteed in terms of its funding and together with “Prevent” are two actions that are changing prevention in Greece.
For her part, the Deputy Minister of Health Irini Agapidakis he said that it is a service that is here to stay, while announcing the expansion of the program for nationwide coverage and emphasizing that from the beginning of the year, the actions of the program are being expanded throughout the country at the same time. As he pointed out, at least 500 thousand people will now be served by COMY every year.
Citizens will be able to be informed from the EODY website about the upcoming visits of the Mobile Health Teams in their area, but they will also be able to report their needs for health assistance by calling 1135. The Deputy Minister of Health clarified that “the COMYS did not come to replace the EKAV and they should not replace it, which should be chosen for emergencies”.
As he announced, by the end of November, 900 KOMY visiting points will have been developed throughout the country. She emphasized that it is “a universally free service for insured and uninsured. When he was asked by the RES-MPE about the needs that seem to be more important for immediate intervention in remote areas, he emphasized that from the pilot application it appeared that several middle-aged patients are undiagnosed. In fact, he clarified that these are “patients who, after the visits, have been diagnosed with hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes and other serious diseases”. In fact, he emphasized that it is important to recognize these health problems and prevent them, so that these people do not develop serious complications.
The Deputy Minister of Health Marios Themistocleous emphasized that the COMYs are directly connected to the national telemedicine network that now operates in 35 hospitals.

For his part, the president of EODY Christos Hatzichristodoulou emphasized that from the interventions that have been made to date by the Komy regarding vaccination “we managed to vaccinate a very large percentage of Roma for measles, as the coverage for this disease before the vaccinations in this case did not exceed 40%.
