The Federation of Secondary Education Officers (OLME) announced the launch thours of work stoppages in schools throughout the country, in the context of the mobilizations against its implementation of Law 4823/2021which concerns the evaluation of school units and teachers.
According to the announcement of the Board of Directors of OLME, this measure is part of its implementation decision of the General Assembly of Presidents of ELMEwhich was received on February 11, 2023. The target, as stated, is the preventing the implementation of the law which provides, among other things, course attendance by evaluators.
OLME “announces three-hour work stoppages for the first or second work shift, from Wednesday 29 October to Friday 28 November 2025”. The stops will take place across the country and enable teachers to participate in protest performances, briefings and collective actions in their schools.
The Federation calls on teachers to massively support the mobilizations, stressing that “evaluation cannot be a control mechanism, but a process of essential support for the educational work”.
At the same time, OLME asks the Ministry of Education to proceed to dialogue with educational institutionsin order to form an evaluation system that respects the pedagogical role of teachers and the autonomy of school units.
