Thousands of faithful from every corner of Greece rushed to the Holy Monastery of St. John Theologos in Souroti Thessalonikifor the celebration of St. Paisios which took place today Friday (11.07.2025).
The monastery in Souroti, Thessaloniki, where the grave tomb of St. Paisios is located, opened its doors to the faithful at 10am. The crowd was very much, as the queues of faithful were formed who wanted to worship the grave on the eve of the death of the Holy See.
In fact, at 20:00 there was also alert in the Holy Monastery of St. John Theologos.
It is recalled that it was forbidden to enter IX cars in the monastery area, and that the transporters were transported by bus.
It is noted that tomorrow, Saturday, July 12th, 31 years have passed since the Master of St. Paisios of Mount Athos.
Saint Father Paisios the Mount Athos was born to devout parents, Prodromos and Evlabia Eznepidis, in Farasa, Cappadocia on July 25, 1924 AD, a few days before the Farassiots fleeing the land for Greece.
He was a Greek Cappadocus monk of the 20th century who became widely known for his monastic life and his work. His classification as the Saint of the Orthodox Church was held by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople on January 13, 2015 and his memory is celebrated on July 12, his sleep date.
He was born on July 25, 1924 in Farasa, Cappadocia and was the son of Prodromos and Blessing-Eznepidis. He had another nine brothers: Catherine, Salvation, Life, Maria, Raphael, Amalia, Charalambos born in Farasa, while Christina and Lucas were born in Konitsa, where the Paisios family had settled since 1927.
