These are the safest cars by class

In 2012, the independent organization Euro NCAP submitted a total of 36 cars on the European market to crash tests. Six models with a “five-star” performance did exceptionally well in all four categories: protection of adult occupants, protection of children, protection of pedestrians and provision of safety systems. The best performance of any other car tested by the Euro NCAP organization was scored by the Volvo V40, which, of course, emerged as the safest of all in small and medium family cars.

In superminis the new Renault Clio dominated, in small SUVs the top was shared by the Ford B-MAX and Fiat 500L, in medium SUVs the Ford Kuga emerged as the safest and in the large ones the Hyundai Santa Fe, in family the BMW 3 Series and in business/family van the Ford Transit.
