In order to present the development plan For Western Greece, but also wider for the whole country, the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos He held today (13.5.2025) a series of meetings with Patras institutions, businessmen and executives of the New Democracy.
More specifically, as stated in a related announcement, Mr. Theodorikakos presented the 13th RGC forum at the University of Patras Conference Center on government development policy and the overall development plan of the region, focusing on the new Development Law to be submitted to Parliament in the coming days.
He made a special reference to strategic investments of € 1.5 billion that put Western Greece dynamically in the country’s energy, tourist and industrial map, while stressing that the targeting of the new law is to reduce inequalities, support for regional production and creating stable, well -paid jobs. “We are doing the largest development plan for all Greeks,” he said.
Subsequently, Mr. Theodorikakos met with Western Greece Regional Governor Nektarios Farmakis, Patras Mayor Costas Peletidis, and Metropolitan Patras, Mr. Chrysostomos, where the challenges and potential of the area were discussed.
A visit to the Port Authority of Patras followed and a meeting with Managing Director Panagiotis Anastassopoulos, where the prospects for upgrading the port were discussed, both as a portal of product entry and infrastructure, with a potential for cruise tourism. The minister emphasized that Patras, as a historic city with cultural land and geographical strategic location, could turn into a high standard tourist hub, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Productive Bodies of the region.
He had a meeting in the Patras Industrial Area with the Patras Business Association (SEVIPA). He listened to the issues faced by the productive forces in the area, discussed the possibilities of funding through the new development law and confirmed the political commitment to upgrade the VIP infrastructure with projects totaling 10m euros. “The productive transformation starts from here, from the region. We are next to those who keep Greece upright with their work, “he noted.
Then, at the Achaia Chamber, Mr. Theodorikakos presented the basic aspects of the new development law and talked to businessmen about the needs of the local economy. He emphasized the importance of supporting industry and manufacturing and referred to the new arrangements for evaluating applications within 90 days and implementation clauses, so that each investment is made with transparency, speed and seriousness. “We have no right to waste a single euro of the Greek taxpayer,” he said.
Finally, he visited the offices of the New Democracy Achaia Achaia, where he had discussed with the members and members of the faction, on issues concerning the local community and the priorities of government policy.
