The post of Adonis Georgiadis:
Yesterday at the inauguration of the Clinics of G. Rhodes Hospital I mentioned the immediate publication of the building permit for the launch of the construction of the Radiotherapy Center at Rhodes Hospital. Thanks to the actions of the Regional Governor, Mr. Hatzimarkou and our good cooperation, an inert demand decades becomes a reality. Immediately after my speech and posting on local sites, some began their well -known misery. Today a patient – unknown to me – uploaded this shockingly true post. I show it to you to understand what is finally becoming a reality in the Dodecanese: https://facebook.com/share/19xasr4llx/?mibextid=wwxifr
“It hurts me deeply to hear negative and ironic comments about the creation of the radiotherapy section in Rhodes. For some it may be just ‘a project’. For me – and for many others – it’s much more. It’s a breath. It is dignity. It’s life.
I have lived the battle with cancer closely. I know what it means to have to travel to Athens constantly for treatments, to be away from your family, from your home, exhausted not only physically but also mentally. Struggle to stand up, and at the same time have to find money, time, strength.
Radiotherapy in Rhodes is not just an infrastructure. It is a human conquest for us, for our islands, for the people who fight daily. And when some people mock or fight it, I feel that they are offending our very need to dignity with dignity.
Having this possibility in Rhodes is not a luxury. It is a need, it is a right, it is respect for the man who is being tested. Radiotherapy is not a simple infrastructure project. It is a work of life.
If you can’t help, at least don’t block. In the battle with cancer, access to treatment is a matter of life. Don’t forget it. “
